Connect IBM DB2
IBM DB2 as a source or destination: the driver, the connection fields and the schema.
Last updated November 3, 2026
DBConvert connects to DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows 11.1 and later. DB2 for z/OS and IBM i (AS/400) are not supported.
Connection fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Host | the DB2 server's name or IP address |
| Port | the DB2 port, 50000 by default |
| Database | the database name, for example SAMPLE. Type it: DB2 does not list databases to a client |
| Username, Password | a DB2 login |
Schema
Tables are read from one schema, or written into one. Leave Schema empty to use the login's own schema.
Schema names are in upper case, as DB2 stores them. A name typed in lower case finds no tables.
DB2's system schemas are not offered.
When the IBM driver is missing
DBConvert talks to DB2 through IBM's own driver, the IBM Data Server Driver for ODBC and CLI. Setup downloads it from IBM into the application's folder, under %ProgramFiles%\DBConvert\. Nothing is installed system-wide.
When setup could not download it, for example offline or behind a proxy, setup still completes. Connect then says the driver is not installed, and gives the link to IBM's file. To install it by hand:
- Download the zip from the link in the message.
- Unpack it into the application's folder, for example
C:\Program Files\DBConvert\DBConvert for MS SQL and DB2\. The zip holds aclidriverfolder; keep it as it is. - Check that
clidriver\bin\db2app64.dllis now in the application's folder, then click Connect again.
An IBM Data Server Client installed earlier for another program is not used.
Servers behind a firewall
To reach a DB2 server that is not open to your network, use the built-in SSH tunnel. A direct SSL connection to DB2 is not offered.
