DBConvert Studio is a robust software solution for DBAs who need complex migrations and synchronization between the most popular databases and clouds.
New parallel migration engine of DBConvert Studio takes full advantage of modern multi-core processors. It speeds up data migration between the most popular databases and clouds by splitting database tables into multiple parts and processing them in parallel.
Parallel migration is supported for the following types of databases configured as the source:
- SQL Server
Parallel migration is supported for all types of database configured as the target except MS Access, MS FoxPro, SQLite.
DBConvert Studio is optimized to achieve the highest possible throughput for each specific environment. The bottleneck will be the target database, network, or disk. However, not all databases are equally fast. Microsoft Access as a target will never be as fast as, for example, PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server. DBConvert Studio dynamically adapts its algorithms to get the most out of your databases.
"Threads" slider controls the rate at which data is transferred from the source to the target database. The number of threads refers to the number of parallel tasks running concurrently while copying data. The maximum number is limited by the actual number of processor threads available on the computer.
We ran several tests copying the same tables from MySQL to PostgreSQL in succession on an Intel Core i7 processor (8 cores, 16 threads). As a result, we have the following:
